These designers and entrepreneurs spoke about their apps and the creative processes behind it:
Alexander Griekspoor (@mekentosj), Founder & CEO Mekentosj.com — Apps for scientists. Won 2 Apple Design Awards. Alex talked about his journey of the last 10 years as Mac software designer, entrepreneur and scientist.
Randy J. Hunt (@randyjhunt), creative director Etsy.com — Randy gave a peak behind the screens of the biggest and fastest growing community on the web of buyers and sellers of hand made products. How Etsy gets shaped and tweaked every day by Randy and his team of designers.
Cloud9 (http://c9.io) — This Appsterdam-based company has created a fully-fledged web app development tool suite that runs inside the browser! Yes it's crazy and very hot. If there is one company that is stretching the browser beyond it's limits of app-ness, it's Cloud9.

Mensen gaan naar evenementen als WWDC en komen vol inspiratie terug. Hoe aantrekkelij zou het zijn als je elke dag omringd zou worden door gelijkgestemden, andere ontwikkelaars die tegen dezelfde uitdagingen en problemen aanlopen en bereid zijn om hun ervaringen onderling te delen.
Er zullen meetups plaatsvinden en er komen officiële hangouts, waaronder SPING - applicatieontwikkelaar in Delft - en bij de NDSM-werf in Amsterdam Noord. Volgens oprichter Mike Lee zijn de ontwikkelaars ambachtsmensen, die met elkaar concurreren op basis van visie. In een bedrijf met duizenden collega’s kom je niet ver met een visie, als zelfstandige ontwikkelaar wel. Maar dan moet je wel de mogelijkheid hebben om van elkaar te leren. Appsterdam gaat dat mogelijk maken.
